My Top 5 Favorite Firefox Extensions!

I know, I know. You are hit with one of these every once in a while. You may be tired of them, but are you really that surprised that I am making a list? Of course not.

  1. Tab Mix Plus - This is one of those Must-Have extensions that I don’t know if I could live without. TMP is the reason I use Firefox instead of Camino on my G3 iBook. Sure, it takes longer for Firefox to load, but you don’t get the inkling of the joy of fully customized tabbed browsing. If you don’t have this, check it out. It’s totally worth it.
  2. Fire FTP - This extension provides an FTP client within the Firefox browser window. This comes in very handy when you manage a webpage and you have to upload stuff and you don’t need very many bells or whistles. Ultimate utility.
  3. Growl Notifications - Ok, this is a Mac only extension that integrates notifications into your UI. It pretty much notifies you in a way that you choose (small balloon in a corner, block of yellow with text on it, the whole screen flashes, or a note pops up telling you that your download has completed) that certain things have been accomplished. This is really handy in conjunction with Fire FTP because it tells you when your upload is complete.
  4. DownThemAll - This is a great add-on that lets you download embedded videos from sites like You Tube and Google Video. It does a whole lot more than that, but that’s what I use it for.
  5. Forecast Fox - This plugin gives you your current weather, a three day forecast and the ability to see Doppler Radar and/or cloud cover for whatever area you choose. I used this extension all the time with Windows but now I use Mac and it has the Dashboard with a weather widget. It comes in pretty handy.

Ok, your turn to let me in on your secret add-on passion. *Note - I said add-on, not strap-on! Leave a comment and let me know what Firefox Extention you can’t live without.

Also, remember that if you want your site to be reviewed for the Saturday Site Review, comment and let me know. Get them while they are hot/free.
