IMO, I really think the breaking point was the PS3 vs Xbox. Sony included Bluray in its console, and Microsoft wanted to charge a crapton for HD-DVD compatability. If MS had thrown Toshiba a line, HD-DVD would’ve had a HUGE install base.

I have always thought HD-DVD was the better name, and hoped Blu-ray would lose. Why are blu-ray DVD’s so expensive anyhow?
